Library & Information Service is a basic need of everyone. As education is for all, Library should be for all, because library is the heart of an education system. Library is our right, let's fight for our right. Library and Information Science (LIS) students, scholars, faculty, teachers and professionals along with the library lovers should come forward for the mission of Library Movement Odisha.
As the school education is the foundation point of a child's future, starting from school to university as well as a life long learning the importance of library is very essential in every steps of career. Parents, guardians, teachers of a student should be aware of the need of a better library for their child as well as a professional librarian to execute the library.
In current scenario, the importance of Library and Librarian is much less than expected. So with a vision and mission the Library Movement Odisha is calling the youth to join hands and rise their voice for their rights.
Vision:
- As per Odisha Public Library Act 2001, setting up public libraries everywhere in the rural and urban area of the state i.e. village, town and city.
- Library facility should be free of cost and easily accessible for everyone.
- Recruitment of Professional Librarian in every Library instead of non-professionals
- Fill up the vacant posts in library of every school, college and University
- Create the post of Librarian/Panchayat Library Officer /Panchayat Information Officer in every Gram Panchayat to execute the proposed Panchayat Library and Infotainment Centers in 6799 GPs by PR & DW Dept.
- Recruitment of Librarian posts in 314 OAVS (Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya) Schools.
- Create and posting of a Librarian or Library Teacher in every Govt. Secondary School (High School) to manage the library and e-library established through 5T and MoSchool Programme of the Govt.
- Equal respect and equal pay scale for equal qualification should be given to professional librarian as given to teacher or teacher/academic staff.
Mission:
Library Movement Odisha is a mission of teacher/student/professionals not only of the LIS (Library and Information Science) subject field but also of other discipline. As everyone knows the role of library is very important for build a better nation. Every citizen should join in this mission and making awareness about the need of library as well as professional librarian for the library.
